Position Description:
The Forecast Analyst is responsible for maintaining the forecast in the ERP system and the daily management of forecast operations, coordination with marketing on forecast requirements, analyze forecast vs. usage while maintaining service levels and reducing inventory levels, assists with project releases, planning and scheduling, improve processes and reduce costs.
The position requires extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and has excellent computer and analytical skills. Good communication with other departments to coordinate production and material needs is required. Cross training on other production related job’s will be required and asked to be performed when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Interact with Marketing to maintain forecasts and assist to determine feasibility of on-time completion
- Work to identify new forecasting techniques and methodologies and to upgrade/simplify existing forecasting models and tools as necessary
- Analyzes historical product demand patterns, trends and other business information in the development of monthly demand forecasts
- Track forecasting accuracy, summarize by product families
- Strong analytical and process management skills
- Develop and implement process and system improvements for the forecasting using an analytical approach, supported with appropriate data analysis
- Review inventory turns by category and provide reports for trend analysis
- Assist in planning production activities for manufacturing operations
- Create and maintain Master Production Schedule
- Assists in coordination of inventory builds and meeting the scheduled release dates
- Enter job orders for manufactured products to meet forecast requirements
- Maintain inventory levels based on forecasts and order input
- Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to improve processes, performance and results
- Interact with other departments to ensure smooth and accurate flow of products
- Investigate job costs variances of closed jobs
- Other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in sales forecasting in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 3 years experience with statistical and data analysis
- Experience with an ERP system and an understanding of all mfg functions
- A extensive knowledge of Excel and familiarity with Word, Outlook and MS Project
- Understanding of planning techniques and BOM structures
- Self-motivated and goal driven, as well as, proactive and works for results
- Ability to work in a cross functional areas to identify solutions to manufacturing and project issues
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, tactical/strategic thinking and effective communication skills
- Attention to detail and pride in accuracy
- Effectively implement all inventory planning, forecasting and replenishment activities, including the development of metrics to track and improve performance
Required Education and Licensing Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or science
- APICS - CPIM certification a plus
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum
